FAQs

How long should I expect to be in therapy?

The amount of time you spend in therapy depends on you: your concerns, your goals, your history and background, etc. It could be a few weeks, 6 months, a year. We work together to identify your goals and then we review your progress towards those goals at least once every 3 months.

How long is a therapy session?

Sessions are approximately 50 minutes long.

What do you expect of me in-between sessions?

I believe that any change in our thoughts, our behaviors and our actions requires practice. Because of this, I often ask my clients to engage in different activities between our sessions. This could look like practicing deep breathing, reflecting on what we talked about, engaging in enjoyable activities or hobbies that you have, trying something new, etc.

Therapy is only successful when you are a partner in your own growth. Without practice, we all tend to forget what we have learned and therefore, we never change. So, you will hear me talk a lot about practice, practice, practice!

Do you take insurance?

No. Currently, I only take self-pay (credit card transactions).

Are you seeing clients in-person/in-office?

No, currently I am only seeing clients via telehealth.

What is EMDR?

EMDR stands for Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a type of therapy that helps a client focus on the disturbing memory while moving their eyes back and forth, allowing the brain to successfully integrate the memory which results in alleviation of the negative symptoms the client has been experiencing. This therapy is often used for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (memories of trauma), but has also frequently been used for Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Pain, and various other mental health concerns. I would love to tell you more about this amazing technique and explore how it might help you live a better story.
